Description : The AGO is one of the largest art museum in North America, with a collection of 36 000 works representing 1 000 years of European, Canadian, modern, Inuit and contemporary art. In 2008, the Frank Gahry-transformed Art Gallery of Ontario re-opened to the public. Sighature elements of the new building include an iconic sculptural straircase emerging from Walker Court (the historic centre of the AGO), and the celebrated Galleria Italia with its dramatic sweep of glass and Douglas fir that extends an entire city block along Dundas Street.
